Happy Halloween!
I have a love/hate relationship with halloween. Love: dressing up, carnivals, jack-o-lanterns, candy. Hate: anything scary. Yeah, the only witches or ghosts you'll find at our house come from Harry Potter.

Despite my hatred for all things scary, the Love side of Halloween is pretty festive so I was filled with anticipation for Annie's very first Halloween. I mean, we've got a three-some to dress-up this year so that opens up all sorts of possibilities:
The three musketeers (swords are too sharp)
The three amigos (sticky mustache on baby face...I don't think so. Baby Acne, remember?)
Harry Potter anything (I didn't want to make her a boy for her first Halloween, though she would have pulled off an amazing Boy Who Lived with all of that hair).
Needless to say, we were struggling with the threesome situation more than we thought. Anyone else ever experience Halloween Costume Decision Paralysis? Where no idea is clever or unique or easy or cheap enough. It's a real challenge.
Then the inspiration hit us! It came in the form of Annie's current best friend: George. George the Giraffe Wubbanub. One look at her squeezing his little body and you'll just melt. So. Much. Love.
We came across an infant Giraffe costume and that was it. Lightning struck. Annie would be Georgie. I'd go for the cheap, comfy, easy giraffe footie pajamas and be her giraffe mama. And Scott would be the even cheaper and easier Zoo Keeper (aka...just raid dad's closet).
The final product was maybe not the cleverest, but definitely darling...all because of Annie!
And Scott's costume may have turned out more clever than we anticipated. Just take a look at this serendipitous picture we came across afterward:

...and his name is Dr. Porter...
We wore our costumes to the BYU Football Team's trunk-or-treat with Jojo, Johnny, and Beckham Gray...where we didn't even get to trunk-or-treat because they closed down while we were still in line. No hard feelings though, Taysom Hill came by and offered us some candy. Yeah, Taysom Hill. We finished off the night going out to dinner and eating our Taysom Hill Halloween candy while the babies slept through the whole thing. All of that Decision Paralysis for an attempted Trunk-or-Treat and Annie sitting in a carseat all night, covered in a blanket, fast asleep. Isn't Halloween fun with kids? Happy first Halloween Annie!
