Happy Father's Day!

We celebrated Scott's first official Father's Day on Sunday with breakfast in bed, heartfelt notes *tear*, dad treats at church, and a special father's day dinner of Scott's favorite Chicken Enchiladas. Boom. Mic drop. Really though, it was the very least I could do, and so fun to spoil him a little bit. Because Dads are amazing and Scott is a great dad.

As incredible as it has been to learn what motherhood is over the past 10 months, it's been just as incredible to watch Scott as a father. It's one of my favorite sides of him. As kind, attentive, fun, and full-of-life as he's always been, he is 10X that with Annie. He wants to be the one to get her out of bed when she wakes every morning. He gets her laughing with little games and letting her do or eat things mom would never allow (oh how early it begins!). And he's got some sort of magic touch that gets her back to sleep in the middle of the night, even when I've been in their trying for 10 minutes. Plus, his "daddy voice" is just darn adorable. "ScottDad" is awesome.

Dads, or any father figure for that matter, are just awesome in general. It may sound cliche, but the world needs good dads. It can be a thankless job in it's own right, though different than it is for moms. Slaving away all day providing for your family, but unable to be with them for much of the play time. Missing the little moments. The weight of being a leader, teacher, protector, and example for your children--their superhero. Providing the necessities of life that are simply expected and often not appreciated enough. You do a lot, dads. And I'm grateful for the men in my life who are great examples of hard work, honor, kindness, integrity, and love.

I'm also grateful today for my own father who many years ago helped a tiny little Kathryn first learn about God. To believe in Him and feel of His love. I'm grateful for fathers (especially the two mentioned here) who help remind us that we have a Heavenly Father who is just as present and just as loving as those men He loans us to on earth.

So here's to the men who are our partners, our leaders, our examples, our friends. The providers, protectors, the super stars and superheroes. They are the listening ears, the voice of reason, the warm embrace, the steadiness in the storm. And for me, especially these three Fathers. Happy Father's Day!
