Life Lately

While I started this blog for family history purposes (and forcing myself to ACTUALLY journal), I also hoped that the play-by-play can shed some light on...as they say..."What to expect." So here's a little snapshot, a virtual time capsule, of my crazy, hum-drum, typical mommy life at 8-months-old.
*4:00 AM Wake-up cries, an hour earlier than our "schedule." Get with the program girl!!
*She's still breastfeeding but also finally liking solids. This is a good and bad thing. Good for snacks to tide her over and filling her up at night. Terrible for poopy diapers. More to come on that one...
*Nap time is more predictable, meaning I can actually get some things done! AKA if I haven't texted you back in 8 months...prepare yourself for a long-awaited response.
*The sun is coming out! So we go on walks. Lots of walks. Annie LOVES being outside, and for a few minutes I don't feel like I have to entertain her. How DO you play with babies anyway...??
*She's more aware of other children--though she is far from learning how to play WITH them. More like "Hey! A my-size-toy! Let me gouge it with my razor nails and eat it!"
*She love music and LOVES to dance. Can ya tell??
*Playing is a thing now...to some extent. She crawls away and laughs when we catch her and loves hide-and-seek.
*"Bonking" is also a thing. She is constantly climbing up and trying to stand against things. She has no sense of what is hard and soft, and doesn't have great balance. So bonking her head happens regularly. So previous "work while she plays" time is now "watch her and save her from herself" time. And apparently it's only the beginning.
*She knows her name, and at least Scott's name. "Da Da" is her favorite babble. Scott, of course, loves it.
So my life is a steady stream of feeding, eating, nap-time-ing, avoiding bonking, following when crawling, walking, dance partying, stinky diaper changing, trying to accomplish something, and, I don't know...breathing and all of the other in-between stuff. Simple? Yes. Happy? Absolutely.
